Gotham Glassworks is a custom fine art glass proprietorship located in the historic village of Schomberg, Ontario, Canada, a scenic 45 minute drive north-west of Toronto in King Township; Greg Locke is owner and operator.
Greg and his wife Tracy moved to “Dr. Kay’s House” (as it’s locally called), a lovely 3/4 acre century home in May, 2006.
They finished the preservation and renovation of an 80-plus year horse barn on the property into a glass studio. Its rustic exterior conceals a modern operational workspace inside. Gotham Glassworks relaunched in June, 2008!
Greg has been producing his own unique style of stained glass artwork since 1996. His Father picked up the hobby after he retired; after watching him make lamps and window catchers for friends and family, he tried making a simple lamp and liked it. Enjoying the result and challenge, and to compliment to his interest in furniture design and construction, he starting making more.
Greg added fused glass (also called “warm glass”) to his offering with the purchase of a large glass kiln in 2008. Though he will continue to utilize traditional copper foil and leaded glass methods in his artwork, fused glass will be his predominant focus going forward.
“Fusing offers much more opportunity to be creative and expand my offering of works to include objects and shapes I could never accomplish with foil or lead came. I am very excited by this transition to kiln-fired art!”
This web site represents much of Greg’s creations to date, latest works articulating his style of design, items from his collection for public sale, and Greg’s involvement in local and regional organizations. Please browse and appreciate the totality of Greg’s style and diversity of work!
