(2009)

A mesmerizing glass sculpture! Grenadine red and clear glass with black streams project dramatic ebb and flow.

Multiple firings produced layered texture effects that display subtle variety up close and add overall drama to the work.  Each piece uniquely flows into the next, forming a closed loop.

Apparent Movement was commissioned by York Region Arts Council, chaired by Wendy Fairbairn, and displayed to media and presented on December 17th at the newly renovated Lebovic Centre at “19 on the Park” in Stouffville, Ontario.

The six-piece fused glass commissioned work was designed to be as “one” for only a short time.  Six key individuals received each piece by Wendy, a gesture to recognize and thank them for their contribution and dedication to a great and exciting cause, including: Continue reading Apparent Movement

Natural Beauty

A botanical theme! This is a striking fused art glass panel – these pictures don’t do it justice.

The leaves are a separately made combination of persimmons and dark amber cathedral glass providing their lovely striped effect. They remind Greg of variegated Cana Lilly leaves! Thicker than the green stems, they provide a rich and dimensional texture to this colourful and whimsical piece.

The stems and flower-like enhancements are fused from various green shades of green and multiple textures of frit, further enhancing its 3-dimensional nature.

Natural Beauty measures 24″ x 23″ and is designed to hang in a well-lit window or back-lit space. This particular work also looks lovely front-illuminated or in a natural indoor setting.

Please note that Greg does not commit any work to a hanging method until it is sold. Greg will consult with the purchaser to determine the most suitable method, given the work’s desired location. Installation charges may apply depending on the method chosen. Please Contact Greg to discuss in more detail.

Hot N Spicy

Be sure to check out “The Making Of …” this work.

The name says it all for this stunning 3 feet by 2 feet fused art panel!

These photos don’t pay justice to the striking colour depth of the red, orange and marigold opalescent glass used in this work. Black and select large coloured frit enhances the fissures for a textured effect.

Note on mounting/hanging: The artist recommends this panel  be mounted on a wall to create a “floating” effect, using one of various hardware methods.  Greg does not commit fused panels to a mounting method at time of completion; in consultation with the purchaser he will utilize a chosen method that best suits his/her design and viewing preferences.

Firey Nebula

A wonderment of colour, texture and design! You may recognize the marigold, hot red and orange glasses from Hot & Spicy, used with significantly different method and resulting mood.

Some accents are fully fused into the base, while most are dimensionally fused providing a wonderful texture effect adding life and apparent movement.

Firey Nebula is 24″ wide x 23″ high.

Note on mounting/hanging: This panel can be mounted or hanged inside a window or backlit frame using various hardwares.  Greg does not commit fused panels to a mounting method at time of completion; in consultation with the purchaser he will utilize a chosen method that best suits his/her design and viewing preferences.

Blue Spirit

(2009)

Cobalt Blue opalescent glass – a fabulous colour as a base for this fused art glass vessel series, enhanced with multi-colour semi-transparent green, yellow, ivory and blue accents, and confetti and frits for added flair.

All are food safe! Hand washing recommended – though Greg recommends they are beautiful as display art!

For your convenience, Gotham Glassworks offers several display stands models at additional cost.
